QFest Brings 12 Nights of Themed Parties, Meet and Greets, and Other Special Events

This year’s lineup of special events includes Prom Queens, Drag Queens and everything in between!

What is a film festival a without a few parties? As the East Coast’s largest LGBT film festival, QFest brings the best events and entertainment to the hottest venues in Philadelphia. Whether you are looking for some glamorous Prom Night fun or a hip poolside bash, QFest has something for everyone and promises to keep you partying throughout the festival!

Following the prom themed Opening Night film G.B.F. (7:15pm in Ritz East 1), festival goers will head over to Lit Ultra Bar, 460 N. 2nd Street, from 9:30pm to 2:00am, for the official “Prom Night Gone Wild” Opening Night party, presented by TD Bank, tlagay.com, Lit Ultra Bar, Tavern on Camac, U Bar, Barefoot Bubbly, and Underground Arts. The popular DJ Jimmy DePre will be playing the hottest music for guests to dance the night away. There will be a special performance by Brittany Lynn and the Drag Mafia and don’t miss some hot bodied dancers dressed in their sexiest prom night attire. The red carpet will be rolled out for the film’s special guests, G.B.F. actors Xosha Roquemore and Taylor Frey, arriving in Mini Coopers. The night will end like any traditional prom would: with the crowning of the fiercest Prom Queen and her fabulous G.B.F.!

Tickets are $40 for combos (film and after-party); $25 for party only at the door, with two complimentary drink tickets for beverages from our generous sponsors.

On Sunday, July 21st, following QFest’s Closing Night screening of Hot Guys with Guns, (7:15pm in Ritz East 1), festival attendees will head over to the official “Hot Guys with Guns” Closing Night Party at Philly’s most talked about new venue, Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St, from 9:30pm- 12:30am. Presented by TD Bank, tlagay.com, Lit Ultra Bar, Tavern on Camac, U Bar, Mini Cooper, Barefoot Bubbly, and Underground Arts, and hosted by Brittany Lynn and the Drag Mafia, bringing their hot troop of undercover agents and private eyes, there will also be a special guest appearance by director Doug Spearman, who will have his own Hot Guys with Guns posse in tow. The Closing Night Party will feature live jazz music from the Philadelphia Freedom Band ensemble, a pianist on a grand piano and the well-known DJ Carl Michaels bringing the festival to a close in a blaze of glory!

Friday, July 12, 9:00pm- 11:00pm: Where I Am Post-Screening Reception
After the screening of Where I Am (7:15pm in Ritz East 1) head over to Knock, 225 S. 12th St., for a post-screening reception at Robert Drake’s favorite spot in Philly and a meet and greet with the documentary’s subjects Drake, Butch Cordoba and director Pamela Drynan. Drink specials and complimentary appetizers.

Saturday, July 13, 9:30pm- 12:30am: After-Screening Centerpiece Reception for The Happy Sad
After the centerpiece screening of The Happy Sad (7:30pm in Ritz East 2), join director Rodney Evans and cast/crew members LeRoy McClain, Cameron Scoggins, and screenwriter Ken Urban at Tavern on Camac, 243 S. Camac St. for a special meet and greet.

Saturday, July 15, 5:15pm: Beautiful Something Script Reading
QFest attendees looking to get a look behind-the-scenes should check out the Beautiful Something script reading at L’Etage, 624 S. 6th St. The story follows the lives of four gay men from different generations, all trying to navigate their way through love on a hot, steamy night in Philadelphia. Join local, award-winning director Joseph Graham, QFest programmer Kelly Burkhardt, and a group of Philadelphia actors for this intimate, staged reading that portrays the City of Brotherly Love in a way you have never seen before! $5 in advance at www.QFest.com or $8 at the door.

Saturday, July 13, 10:00pm- 3:30am: Arouse Presents “The V Party”
Following the centerpiece screening of Who’s Afraid of Vagina Wolf? (7:15pm Ritz East 1), join us at Voyeur Nightclub, 1221 St. James St., for a red carpet style party! Director/actor Anna Margarita Albelo will be in attendance with the film’s vagina costumes that guests can try on for a fun photo op! $10 cover before 1:30am.

Thursday, July 18, 9:00pm- 2:00am: Romeo Romeo and Tumbledown Joint After-Party

Tavern on Camac, 243 S. Camac St., presents an amazing night of music and dancing combined with a playfully seductive burlesque show performed by Liberty City Drag Kings. Cabaret singer Lexy Casano-Antonellis from the film Romeo Romeo will also be performing! Special guests include director Lizzie Gottlieb, producer Eden Wurmfeld, and subject Jessica Casano-Antonellis, and from Tumbledown, writer/director/producer Todd Verow. Friday, July 19, 10:00pm- 2:00am: Stimulus Presents Queeradelphia Splash Party

We’re queer, fierce and local! Philadelphia filmmakers are taking over the Ritz Bourse at 7:00pm., then heading to North Shore Beach Club, 1031 Germantown Ave., for the official Queeradelphia after party! Come join Stimulus for the only 21+ private swim party for the LGBT community and be sure to wear your sexiest swim suit! $10 cover all night.

Friday, July 19, 11:30pm- 2:00am: Visiting Baltimore Presents I Am Divine Extravaganza

Tavern on Camac, 243 S. Camac St., will host this exciting extravaganza to honor the internationally recognized drag superstar, Divine, the subject of Jeffrey Schwartz’s documentary, I Am Divine (9:45pm Ritz East 1). Come watch the ‘Divine’ lookalike contest where people will be competing for fierce prizes. There will also be a chance for revelers to get a one of a kind photo with Divine! Producer Lottie Phariss Knowles will be in attendance.

Saturday, July 20, 5:15pm: BearCity Book Reading
L’etage, 624 S. 6th St., will host an afternoon full of furry fun with Lawrence Ferber, author of “BearCity: The Novel”. The book recounts the funny, romantic and often dramatic adventures of a close knit pack of (two-legged) bears, cubs, and friends in New York City, who you might remember from the Bear City movies, as they gear up for a big party weekend. The reading will be followed by a Q&A and book signing. $5 in advance at www.QFest.com or $8 at the door.

Saturday, July 20, 4:00pm- 6:00pm: McGreevey Benefit

The Philadelphia Cinema Alliance will host a special benefit meet and greet with former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey at the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel, 120 S. 17th St. This event will take place after the screening of director Alexandra Pelosi’s documentary Fall to Grace (2:15pm Ritz East 1), which features McGreevey as the main subject. Donation: $25 per person, complimentary appetizers and drink specials at a cash bar.

Saturday, July 20, 11:00pm- 2:00am: Sisters Hosts Chastity Bites Bash
Sisters, 1320 Chancellor St., will host this fabulous ladies late night out with Chastity Bites (9:30pm Ritz Bourse) special guests, director John V. Knowles and writer/producer Lottie Pharriss Knowles. $4 Vampire cocktails all night, $3 Happy Hour 9:00pm-11:00pm, free cover with QFest VIP badges or ticket stubs.
